What is Hosted Microsoft Exchange?

Hosted Exchange is just like a hosted website provider.  There are companies out there that specialize in providing just this kind of service.  Your Outlook email client continues to run on your computer system.  You still can share distribution lists, calendars and tasks.  The fact that the Exchange server is no longer physically located in your building is transparent; your staff will never know the difference!

In fact Exchange providers build their systems in clusters, many servers performing the same function.  They are able to provide a level of fault tolerance and redundancy difficult to replicate, spam filters that they manage and maintain, and the nightly backup of all email boxes.  In addition, typical services include smartphone (Windows Mobile) and Blackberry devices.
